Thank you, Dr. Washburn! One other question, what about students who struggle to finish reading and complete visual tool? Thoughts on that?

I agree! The AP-ex – AP-el cells are where most of the time is spent.

I love your thoughts on this! It seems all the assessments truly work together to get a full picture of what the student has learned for each skill taught.

Great thoughts and observations! The rubrics are very helpful in assessing students’ work and makes it not so subjective when grading.

    Love this!
“Quality of instruction and time spent on individual skills ensuring mastery is far superior than skimming the surface and moving on.” This is so good and something we must remember as we are trying as teachers to help our students learn “all the things” in a given year.

Love this…I agree! I have the same thoughts on the time component. Many times it seems my students are struggling to complete all of the pieces to the SPECS log.

Love your thoughts and honesty about where you are in this process. I have taught F & F for several years now, but have gotten away from some of the specifics over time and I am reminded of those through this class. It is also so helpful to have other teachers to discuss with along the way.
You may want to reach out to Dr. W and ask some of your specific questions. I am going to do the same about some that I have.
It can be overwhelming. I remember that feeling when I first started, but I have no doubt you will do great! It will come together.

Love your thoughts…and I agree!! I love the intentionality of all of these steps to lead the students toward a deeper understanding and love of the text. I also love that quote!

Love this! Yes, I also see so much value in these collaborative comprehension sessions. It is also great to hear the kids talking and getting excited about their book.

Yes, I agree with what you are saying! I learned much from this demonstration. It was a great reminder of some things I have gotten away from over time and an opportunity to learn some new things about how to introduce a word.

I totally agree, Angela! My observations were much like yours. I will be doing some new things this next school year with vocabulary introduction.

I liked that everything was right there together and easily referenced as well! I thought the amount of time intentionally spent on showing the students how the process questions and visual tool work together was great.

Great thoughts! I love the specifics you talked about in how it helped you connect more to the story by using the visual tools. This is a great book too!
