Megan ParkerParticipant
I agree!!
Megan ParkerParticipantI always forget to use Specs Logs as well as an assessment tool. That will be a goal of mine this year…to make sure to check them as we go through the unit to us as a form of assessment.
Megan ParkerParticipantI love this explanation! I know I need to be better at checking Specs Logs each day and providing feedback for my students and plan to really work on being better at that this year!
Megan ParkerParticipantI agree Christine!!
Megan ParkerParticipantI also like how this plan requires the students to take more of a leading role in the group and forces the teacher to sit back at times and see where the conversations goes.
Megan ParkerParticipantI agree Becca! I love the intellectual art activity at the end of the unit so students can work together and talk about their different ideas and thoughts to better understand the book!
Megan ParkerParticipantI love how you compared a good book study to a good Bible study!! So true!!!
Megan ParkerParticipantI love how you worded this Joanna!! I will definitely be spending more time on vocabulary instruction as well this year!
Megan ParkerParticipantI liked the additional opportunities as well Christine and will be using several this year as well!
Megan ParkerParticipantI agree as well!
Megan ParkerParticipantI agree! I felt the same way when I was doing my visual tool as well!
Megan ParkerParticipantI’m the same way Elizabeth! Having enough time in the day to get everything done is always a struggle!!
Megan ParkerParticipantI feel like my strengths are targeting mastering and allowing adequate time for it to develop and develops patterns of thinking. I don’t move on from a skill until I feel like my students are ready and I encourage them to think of the pattern for the unit everyday while they are reading and I also try to apply it to other content areas.
I would say my weakness would have to be either providing frequent feedback or balancing enjoyment with skill practice. I let time get away from me a lot and forget to check student progress in between groups. I also feel like with some units I focus so much on the skill because it may be a little more difficult that I forget to just let them enjoy reading a good story.
Megan ParkerParticipantI completely agree Dee!!
Megan ParkerParticipantSame Becca! It was always very simple questions that you could just go back in the text and find the answer to. It’s much more in depth now and our students are better readers because of it!
